New Delhi, Feb 27 (Agency) With the pandemic finally having slowed down a little and theatres having opened, several films are ready to be released this year. We have many films coming up with some of very exciting pairings of directors and actors, be it Matt Reeves’s and Robert Pattinson’s “The Batman”, the classic DiCaprio and Scorsese in the crime drama “Killers of the Flower Moon” or Sam Raimi and Benedict Cumberbatch’s “Doctor Strange 2”. UNI brings you the Top 10: 1. “The Batman” (Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson) – Directed by Matt Reeves in a different continuity from the Snyderverse, “The Batman” is a neo noir action film that shall star the acclaimed British actor Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight in his younger years as a far brasher and disturbed vigilante who is more an embodiment of vengeance and terror as opposed to the nightly deliverer of justice as he seeks to track down the highly intelligent serial killer Edward Nigma/The Riddler. The movie will release on March 4. 2. “Elvis” (Baz Luhrman and Austin Butler) – Directed by Baz Luhrmann, Elvis is a biopic chronicling the life of American “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley and stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as Elvis’s manager Col. Tom Parker. The project was first announced in 2014 and will be theatrically released on June 24. 3. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (Sam Raimi and Benedict Cumberbatch) – Set in the aftermath of the events of “Spider Man: No Way Home”, Doctor Strange has opened up the multiverse and unleashed chaos on the world. From its trailer alone, the Sam Raimi directorial is bound to have a great many surprises.
The movie will further explore the concept of the multiverse and alternate dimensions in the MCU and will release on May 6. 4. “Morbius” (Jorge Espinosa and Jared Leto) – In its very first live action adaptation, Marvel’s vampire antihero will be directed by Jorge Espinosa. Starring Jared Leto as Michael Morbius, the movie is a story about a celebrated biochemist named Michael Morbius whose efforts to cure himself of a rare blood disease accidentally afflict him with a form of vampirism. It will release on April 1. 5. “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio) – Bringing together two classic Hollywood collaborations, the movie is a Western crime drama directed by Martin Scorsese. Based on the 2017 non fiction book of the same name it is on the 1920s Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered in the tribal land there triggering a major FBI investigation. The movie is produced by as well as stars Leonardo DiCaprio in what is Scorsese and DiCaprio’s sixth collaboration as well as stars Robert De Niro in what is their tenth collaboration together. The movie is likely set for November release. 6. “The Fablemans” (Steven Spielberg and Seth Rogan, Paul Dano and Michelle Williams) – A semi autobiographical coming of age drama written by Steven Spielberg and Anthony Kushner and directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie is based on the life of acclaimed director Steven Spielberg’s childhood. The movie will star Seth Rogan, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Gabrielle La Belle, Julia Butters, Oakes Fegley, Gabriel Bateman, Judd Hursch etc. The film will release on November 23. 7. “The Northman” (Robert Eggers and Alexander Skarsgard) – An epic historical drama set at the turn of tenth century Iceland, the movie follows prince Amleth who sets out on a journey of vengeance after his father is murdered by his uncle.
Written by Sjorn and Robert Eggers and directed by Robert Eggers, the movie stars Alexander Skarsgard as the mythical Scandnavian prince Amleth, Nicole Kidman as Queen Gudrun-Amleth’s mother, Ethan Hawke as King Aurvandill, Claes Bang as Fjölnir, Amleth’s uncle and Aurvandill’s brother, Bjork as the Seeress, William Dafoe Heimir The Fool. The movie will be released on April 22. 8. “Bullet Train” (David Leitch and Bradd Pitt, Sandra Bullock) – An action thriller, the movie’s plot is premised upon five assassins on a Japanese Bullet Train finding out that their individual assignments are all interconnected and is based on Kotaro Isaka’s novel Maria Beetle (published in English as Bullet Train) . Directed by David Leitch, the movie stars Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Joey Kind, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor Johnson among others 9. “The Flash” (Andres Muschietti and Ezra Miller) – Set as the twelfth film in the DCEU continuity, “The Flash” is inspired by the storyline of The Flashpoint comics and will feature multiple characters from different universes. The movie stars Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ben Affleck as Batman from Barry’s universe, Michael Keaton as Batman from an alternate universe (Keaton reprised his role from the 1989 and 1992 Batman and Batman Returns films) The film will release on November 4. 10. “Black Adam” ( Jaume Collet Serra – Dwayne Johnson) Set as a spin off to the 2019 film Shazam, Black Adam is the eleventh instalment in the DCEU and follows Shazam’s arch villain and antihero Black Adam who has been awakened after 5000 years and will become one of Captain Marvel/Shazam’s greatest enemy. Its first live action adaptation will be portrayed by Dwayne Johnson who was also one of the producers of the film. The movie will release on July 24.
