‘The Menu’ trailer shows sinister culinary nightmare

Los Angeles, June 2 (Agency) Serving up the main dish with a side of murder, Searchlight Pictures has just released the trailer for its brand new picture “The Menu”, a Gordon Ramsey themed horror comedy. The plot of the film follows a wealthy couple who travel to an island to eat at a highly exclusive and lavish restaurant where food is treated as pieces of art and not just culinary delights. The main chef preparing the meals, however, includes some “shocking surprises” on the menu.

Any further details are being kept under wraps, though the trailer does manage to give us a glimpse into a few details, some things are covertly stated and some are merely implied, but the fact is evident that this culinary retreat is not what it seems and something more sinister is going on behind the veil of seeming normalcy. From an unsettling score, to the Fiennes’s cold chief chef, to Taylor Joy’s very clear discomfort, it’s clear from the very beginning that this is no ordinary restaurant. The unnerving chef upon first glance seems to have some attendees captured under the spell of the main chef, but Taylor-Joy has a keener eye than most able to look past the surface and sense something darker, spinning further and further into hysteria at the acts committed in front of her.

“The Menu” is directed by Mark Mylod, penned by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy and produced by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch. The cast includes Anna Taylor Joy, Nicholas Hoult, Ralph Fiennes, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, Reed Birney, Paul Adelstein, Aimee Carrero, Arturo Castro, Mark St. Cyr, Rob Yang, and John Leguizamo. The movie releases on November 18.
