Sikkim minister Sharma invites film makers to participate in Global Film Festival

New Delhi, Sep 28 (Bureau) Sikkim Minister for Information and Public Relations Department, Lok Nath Sharma on Tuesday invited film makers, producers, directors and actors to participate in the upcoming second edition of the Sikkim Global Film Festival. “The second edition of Sikkim Global Film Festival is scheduled to be held from December 10 to 14. On behalf of the state government, I invite all the film makers, producers, directors and actors to participate in the film festival,” Sharma said while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.

All the logistical support will be provided by the State government, he added. The Minister also informed that to encourage the film makers to shoot in Sikkim, subsidy of up to Rs one crore in cash and kind would be given, if 75 per cent of the shooting is done in the state and secondly 50 per cent of cast and crew are locals. Talking about the Film festival, Sikkim Film Promotion Board chairperson Pooja Sharma, who was also present, informed that entries are open for five categories- feature film screening, tribal and regional film competition, short film competition, one minute video competition on the theme global peace, and five minute video competition on battling the Covid pandemic.

For submissions of the movie one can log in to ‘www.sikkimfilmboard.org’, she said, adding, the last date of the entries is November 15. The chairperson also urged the budding filmmakers to get their film recognised and accelerate their career as filmmakers by participating in the competition. The rules for the entry is that all films must carry english subtitles, films not certified by Central Board of Film Certification can also be submitted, she added.
