‘Obi Wan Kenobi’ ineligible for Emmy 2022, Ewan and Hayden elaborate on the show

New Delhi, May 11 (Representative) With “Obi Wan Kenobi” just a few days away it is finally time to return to the Galaxy Far Far Away and truly witness what happened between the period of the Republic’s collapse and the Galactic Empire’s rise and Obi Wan’s time on Tatooine as so many fans had wished to see. Marking more progress on that front, Star Wars prequel stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen just reunited for a recent press tour for the limited series. Playing the roles of Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogies, the two actors will reprise their roles 16 years later, this time Ewan as an Obi Wan in hiding and Hayden as the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Disney+ DE shared the image on Instagram, showing McGregor and Christensen posing with their Obi-Wan Kenobi co-star Moses Ingram and series director Deborah Chow. “To see Hayden back in the role of Anakin, well, it was sort of spine-tingling. It was amazing.

It was just amazing to see Hayden, full stop,” McGregor previously told Entertainment Weekly of the Star Wars prequels reunion. “I’m so close with him, we’ve stayed in touch over the years, but we haven’t seen each other for a long time … We had this long catch up. It was so lovely.” Unfortunately for all the show’s extremely built up hype, it seems that “Obi Wan Kenobi” won’t be eligible for the 2022 Emmy Awards. According to Variety, the show won’t be in the race as it doesn’t fall within the eligibility window, which stretches from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022. With the series failing to wrap up before the ultimate June 16 voting deadline and highly unlikely to show the 20,000 voters the unseen episodes for fear of leaks and spoilers, the Star Wars series will have to sit out this year’s awards. Lucasfilm still has ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ to pin in for Emmy considerations. In an interview with Total Film, the Darth Vader actor elaborated on the fighting sequences of the series saying that the sequences will be like the prequels. “Is Darth’s fighting style more in line with the prequels or the slower dancing in the sequels?

We’re more in line with the prequels than we are with how the fights are in the original trilogy. These characters have aged, but not that much yet,” Christensen explained. Commenting on the subject, Ewan said “I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together,” he insisted when reflecting on making the new series. “That’s to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is.” Christensen’s love-in with the prequels wasn’t done there. “The experience of making the prequels was phenomenal,” he continued. “I mean, getting to work with George Lucas, and getting to play this character, I couldn’t have dreamed it up any better. I didn’t want it to end. “It was a sad thing when it concluded. At the time, I thought that was that. I thought George had told his story, and my journey with the character was complete. After all of these years, to get to come back and to continue my journey is extremely meaningful to me.” Explaining the character of Darth Vader, the actor said “He is 100% a fully realised Vader… He’s a very complex character, and there’s an inherent struggle of identity that is always present – there’s inner conflict. He’s always going to be struggling with the loss of Padmé.

“He’s got Anakin buried deep down inside. There always has to be that element of Anakin there, because he does eventually find redemption in the end – through the love of his son, no less. So there has to be that bit of him in there for Luke to be able to access. There’s a lot going on.” Set ten years after ROTS, show features the Galactic Empire at the peak of its power terrorizing the Galaxy as it proceeds to realize its dream of total galactic hegemonic domination. The Republic is gone and its former defenders the Jedi Knights are all but wiped out thanks to Order 66, and those few who survive are now in hiding. One of them is the legendary Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi. The show stars Ewan McGregor, Moses Ingram, Rupert Friend, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, Sung Kang, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Benny Safdie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Hayden Christensen. The show premiers on Disney+ on May 27 with two episodes and will feature six episodes in total with weekly releases.
