Bengaluru, April 4 (Agency) Ricky Kej did India once again proud with his second Grammy win for his album Divine Tides at the 64th Grammy Awards held at Las Vegas. The Indian musician won his second Grammy with the living legend Stewart Copeland, drummer for The Police, won the Grammy in the Best New Age Album. Copeland is the founder and drummer of the British rock band The Police. “Namste everyone. First of all I like thank the living legend over here Sewart Copeland. Thank you so much for joining me on this beautiful musical journey. I mean I grew up with his music. I grew up with his posters on my wall and today I have won a Grammy along with him. It is absolutely amazing,” he said in an acceptance speech at the Grammy award ceremony.
The extraordinary musician, who is also an environmentalist, said, “I just wanted to say something about co-existence, especially during these times. In India we have got a saying called as “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which literally means – The world is one family.” “And when we think about – The world is one family – the only thing that comes to our mind is living in peace within the human species but we have to go further that that and we have to live in paece with all entities on this planet. Whether its is the animals, the wildlife, the forests, the elements of nature that is the water we drink, the air we breathe, the land that we walk on. Divine Tides is all anout co-existence. Thank you,” he added. Kej, who is a resident of Bengaluru, had won his first Grammy in 2015 for his album, Winds of Samsara, in the Best New Age Album category. Before handing over the trophy to Kej, Copeland said, “Well only one of us is allowed to get to talk. But I mean how about this. This has got to be a first. I am a Rock drummer in this category. Don’t ever let anyone tell you, that drums cannot love. But this album is really all about Mr Ricky Kej who brought these elements together. This award is for Ricky Kej, ladies and gentlemen! Divine Tides was released by Lahari Music and the album comprises 9 songs and 8 music videos that were filmed around the world, including landscapes of the Indian Himalayas to the forests of Spain. AR Rahman also attended the Grammys.
