Panaji, Nov 3 (Agency) Leader of Opposition in Goa Legislative Assembly Digambar Kamat on Wednesday demanded that Goan films must be screened in official sections of International Film Festival of India (IFFI). “It is most unfortunate that every year, the BJP government wakes up only after we raise our demand for Special Section for screening of Goan Films in International Film Festival of India. It is shocking that the Chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa has openly admitted in a section of media that he is unaware about the films produced in Goa after IFFI 2020. I demand Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene and ensure the screening of Goan Films in Official Sections of IFFI 2021,” Mr Kamat said.
“How will the local film makers produce films when government is not providing them any assistance?,” he questioned. “ESG cannot be ignorant about film industry in Goa. It is the responsibility of ESG to ensure that maximum benefits are received by local film fraternity from ESG as well as IFFI,” added Mr Kamat.
