New Delhi, Dec 16 (FN Agency) BJP MP Arun Govil on Monday raised in the Lok Sabha the issue of film industry workers not getting salaries and other facilities as per rules and demanded the formation of a committee to solve this problem. Govil during Zero Hour said that small and middle class employees play an important role in film and TV serial production, but they do not get proper salary, provident fund, leave or other benefits and there are also no fixed working hours. In view of this, the government should form a joint committee of the Ministries of Labour and Information and Broadcasting to solve the problems being faced by the workers. Congress’s Mohammad Jawed raised the issue of reduction in funds given to MPs under the Local Area Development Scheme and demanded that it be increased.
Dharmendra Yadav of Samajwadi Party raised the issue of adding the salary and agricultural income of the family members while preparing the income certificate of the Other Backward Class candidates. N K Premachandran of the RSP said that even after two years have passed since the Supreme Court’s decision regarding higher pension under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 95, all retired employees in the private sector are not getting its benefit. He said that the Supreme Court has ordered to adopt a new method of calculating pension of private sector employees covered under Employees Pension Scheme 95, under which they will be able to get higher pension. Despite two years having passed since the court order, very few employees have been able to get its benefits. Adding that, only two percent people in Kerala have got its benefit. He said that the government should speed up this work and provide its benefits to all eligible employees as soon as possible.
