Hyderabad, Dec 3 (Agency) Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday said that a decision on the hike in movie ticket prices would be taken soon. Speaking to the media after reviewing with the film industry people, Mr Srinivas said that the film industry was severely affected with the Covid-19 pandemic during the last two years and is now recurring slowly.
As per direction of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the state government making all efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19, the Minister asked the people to take necessary precautions and asked the cinema theater managements to follow precautions prescribed by the government at the theaters. Stating that the state government is ready to tackle any situation, the Minister said that the situation was coming into normalcy and several high budget new films including Pushpa, RRR, Acharya, Bhimala Nayak are ready for release.
The film industry people said that the expenditure for film producing and maintaining cinema theaters increased many fold. Covid-19 also weakened the film industry. For the revival of the film industry, the government should extend its helping hand by increasing the ticket prices, they urged. Mr Srinivas assured that the issue would be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and take a decision once after conducting study on ticket prices in other states, a release here said. Producers Dil Raju, Suryadevara Radhakrishna, Sunil Narang, DVV Danayya, Radhakrishna, RRR Director Rajamouli, Bhimla Nayak Director Trivikram Srinivas, Pushpa Producer Naveen, Vamsi, Bal Govinda Raju, Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce Secretary Anupam Reddy and among others participated in the meeting.
