Amitabh memoirs 52 yrs of filmdom while celebrating 79th b’day

New Delhi, Oct 11 (Agency) Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his 79th birthday on Monday and he marked the day with an uber-cool post in his Instagram account. Taking to Instagram, Bachchan posted a photo collage where he is seen walking while sporting his green shoes and stylish sling bags. “…. walking into the 80th ..” he captioned the post. His post was soon flooded with fans and members of the film industry. Actress Bhumi Pednekar wrote, “swag Happy birthday sir. “Gangster,” wrote Ranveer Singh. Ajay Devgn shared a picture with Big B on Twitter and said, “Sir, looking at you through a different lens taught me what being a true artiste is. Happy Birthday dear Amitji @SrBachchanb (sic).” Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan has written a heartfelt note on Instagram along with video featuring several images of his father from different phases of his life.

“My hero, my idol, my friend, my father! Happy birthday Dad.Love you.” he wrote. Earlier, his fans had gathered outside the ‘Jalsa’ residence to cut a cake while songs were played. The megastar, who is popularly also known as Big B, Bachchan Sahab and Amit Ji by the film industry, was born on October 11 in 1942. He began his career with the film ‘Saat Hindustani’ in 1969. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dr Bhaskar Banerjee in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Anand’ (1971). He, however, came to be popularly known as the ‘angry young man’ following his roles in movie ‘Zanjeer’ and ‘Deewar’. Big B’s deep and rich voice has been used in songs, including Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Ekla Cholo Re’. He has also lent his baritone voice in several government projects including Covid-19 awareness caller tune. The superstar was roped in as the brand ambassador for the Polio Eradication Campaign in 2002.
