New Delhi, Oct 18 (Representative) Delhi Police arrested two robbers from north Delhi’s Kamla Nagar market and one country-made pistol, 5 live cartridges and cash were also recovered from their possession. During patrolling, the police reached near Spark Mall, Kamla Nagar, where they heard the noise of ‘Chor Chor’ from the Mandelia Road side. The team rushed to the spot and found that two men on a motorcycle were trying to escape and one person was running behind them. The patrolling team also started chasing them. Due to rush and traffic on the road, both were stopped and overpowered, said Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP. One country-made pistol along with 5 live cartridges, one button actuated knife and cash were recovered from them. Both have been identified as Udayraj (47) and Sanjay Sharma (40).
During interrogation, it was disclosed that the accused are habitual offenders and have previous history in police records in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Udayraj told police that he bought the country-made pistol and live rounds from Murad Nagar of Ghaziabad in UP for using the same in committing crime. Around 2 months ago, both were lodged in Dasna Jail in Noida, where they met and after release from jail both started committing crime together. They used to sell the robbed articles to the unknown passer-by at low rates. The accused are drug addicts and commit crime to fulfill their lust for drugs. The accused are school dropouts. Udayraj used to work as fruit and vegetable seller in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, and Sanjay would work as auto driver. Udayraj was previously involved in several cases registered in UP, and Sanjay was previously found involved in 9 cases of robbery and snatching cases registered at Mandir Marg, Hari Nagar and Karol Bagh police stations, said Kalsi.
