Two held for selling Remdesivir Covid-19 injections in black market

Hyderabad, May 18 (Agency) The city police have arrested two persons for procuring and selling of Covid-19 antiviral drug Remdesivir injections in the black market. Police seized five Remdesivir Injections and two cell phones from their possession. On credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team along with Afzalgunj police nabbed Kiran Kumar (35) of Bhongir and Mohad Khaled (23) of Chandrayangutta on Monday when they were illegally procuring and selling Remdesivir injections (Covifor) Antiviral medicine for Covid-19 in the black market to the needy customers at the rate of Rs 25,000 to Rs. 35,000 each, without any valid documents, a police release here said on Tuesday.

The accused Kiran Kumar completed his B-pharmacy and worked in the medical shop. Basing on his experience, two months back, he opened a medical agency at Medipally in Boduppal. Keeping in view of the demand for Remdesivir injections, Kiran Kumar procured Remdesivir injections through known sources with a minimum price and selling them at the rate of Rs 30,000 through Mohd Khaled (Security Guard at Osmania General Hospital) and earning easy money. The arrested accused and the seized material was handed over to SHO Afzalgunj police for further investigation.
