Two held, Brown sugar worth Rs 2 cr seized by Odisha excise flying squad

Balasore, Oct 22 (FN Representative) The Excise flying squad of Cuttack with the help of Basta and Jaleswar police has apprehended two persons and seized nearly 2 kg brown worth of Rs 2 crore from a house. The joint team of the excise and police raided Bidyadharpur village under Basta police station limits in the wee hours today and seized the contraband.. The team faced tough resistance from the drug peddlers and their supporters who damaged the vehicle of the Excise department and injured four excise and police personnel.

The Deputy Superintendent Excise, Cuttack said, “ About 2 kg Brown was seized from a house following a raid in Bidyadharpur.” He said while three people were apprehended the angry family members and their supporters managed to take away one from their custody. Four personnel of the squad were injured and one vehicle sustained damages in the attack. The arrested duo have been identified as Nurjahan Bibi and Sk Assaddul Kadri .
