Truck driver held, looted Aluminium worth Rs.55 lakh recovered

Sambalpur, Aug 2 (FN Representative) Jharsuguda police have arrested a truck driver and recovered Aluminium worth Rs 55 lakh looted by him from Haldia in West Bengal. The aluminium was stolen from Vedanta Aluminium Ltd Jharsuguda. Police said driver Sachindra Roy, took Aluminium pellets from Vedant on July 17 last forging documents. When the truck did not reach the destination at Kharagpur ten days after it left Jharsuguda, the manager of the transport company Rajesh Kumar Sukla informed Badmal police about this big theft. Jharsuguda SP Bikash Chandra Das formed a team led by Badmal IIC Amitav Panda to probe the incident.

The Police team arrested the driver from Dhulagarh industrial estate near Haldia. The accused driver was produced before alocal court in West Bengal and later brought to Odisha on remand for further interrogation. “The driver, the SP said had impersonated himself as Deepak Singh instead of his original name Sachindra Roy,” He had also submitted a forged driving licence (DL) while lifting the materials. “We have recovered the entire stolen materials, seized the truck used for it, and arrested the driver, the SP said adding the probe is on to find out the involvement of other persons in this racket
