Imphal, Dec 19 (Agency) Assam Rifles personnel foiled cross border trafficking of areca nuts near Khubung Khullen village, Chandel district on Friday and seized goods worth about Rs 8.8 lakhs. During border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles observed a huge quantity of bags stacked in a concealed location near Khubung Khullen village. On thorough search of the area, 1600 Kgs of banned areca nuts were recovered in 20 bags, Assam Rifles official said. The recovered contraband items were later handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Pallel for further legal action.
