New Delhi, Aug 26 (FN Bureau) Some fake and fraudulent e-mails, having a purported letter from a probe agency as an attachment, are being circulated by fraudsters to defraud the general public, including some employees working in the Home Ministry, said sources in the security establishment on Sunday. The said letter makes allegations of “child pornography”, “paedophilia”, “cyber pornography”, “sexually explicit exhibit”, “grooming” etc. against the receivers of the said e-mails, they said. Sources said that the recipients of such e-mails should be aware about such fraudulent attempts and not respond to such emails at any cost.
They further said that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) director does not issue such mails or letters and also does not conduct investigations. It may be mentioned that the government in July had issued a public advisory alerting the general public about fake and fraudulent e-mails bearing names, signatures, stamps and logos of Delhi Police Cyber Crime and Economic Offence, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, Intelligence Bureau and Cyber Cell of Delhi and asked people not to respond to such fraudulent e-mails.
