RSS worker hacked to death by SDPI activists

Alappuzha, Feb 25 (Agency) A RSS worker has been hacked to death by the activists of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) at Vayalar on Wednesday night. Following the incident, tension prevailed in Vayalar where a large contingent of police is camping to bring back the situation to normal. Police said a 22-year-old Nandu Krishna, a Mukhya Sishak of RSS, was hacked to death by a six-member SDPI activists who were taken into custody. The incident occurred after a clash between the RSS and SDPI workers at Nagam Kalangara Junction, a busy area in Vayalar village, last night.

Another RSS worker who was injured in the attack has been admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam. Another three SDPI activists who were injured in the incident have been admitted to a hospital in Cherthala. Trouble erupted between the two groups following provocative speeches made by some leaders in a meeting held at Nagam Kulangara Junction two days ago. BJP sources said Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan along with other party leaders will visit the house of Nandhu Krisha this afternoon. Following the murder, Sangh Parivar organisations have called for a hartal in Alappuzha district on Thursday in protest against the attack. No untoward incidents have been reported till now, police added.
