Bengaluru, Oct 26 (Agency) Rs 500 and Rs 1000 demonetised currency notes with a face value of Rs 5.80 crore were seized by the city police from an inter-state gang. Police also arrested five persons for allegedly printing demonetized fake currencies. The fake notes with the face value of Rs 80 lakh and another Rs 5 crore, were seized from Bengaluru and Kasaragod, respectively, police said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sureshkumar (32), Ramakrishna (32), Manjunath (43), Dayanand (45) and Venkatesh (53), who is a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike sub-contractor, police said. The gang leader is absconding and investigation is on.
