Vijayawada, Apr 25 (Agency) Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has said cash, liquor and drugs worth Rs 165.91 crore have been seized so far across the state during checking. In a statement here on Thursday, the CEO said that Rs 8.65 crore cash and liquor have been seized at various places during the last 24 hours. The CEO said that since the issuance of election notification, the election officials have seized Rs 165.91 crore worth cash, liquor, precious metals, freebies and drugs during the checking at various places. Stating that the polling will be held in AP on May 13, Mukesh Kumar Meena said that checking vehicles at state border check posts was intensified. The teams comprising police, excise, income tax, forest, ED, SEB and RPF personnel are conducting checking of vehicles at the state and district borders.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the highest amount of cash, liquor and other precious articles worth Rs 30.66 crore were seized in Anantapur Parliamentary constituency and Rs 1.15 crore worth cash, liquor and other precious articles were seized in Narasapuram Parliamentary constituency. Giving details of the seized cash and liquors, Mukesh Kumar Meena said that so far Rs 36.89 crore cash, Rs 20.32 crore wroth 6,62,402.65 liters of liquor, Rs 2.78 crore worth 52,28,218.94 grams drugs, Rs 91.26 crore worth 14,73,734.46 grams precious metal, Rs 2.90 crore wroth 4,88,557 freebies and Rs 11.74 crore worth 11,27,451.07 other articles have been seized so far.
