Police seize drugs at Churachandpur

Imphal, May 6 (Agency) Churachandpur Police today nabbed a man with 100 soap case containing suspected No. 4 Heroin Powder weighing about 1.335 Kgs approx. (including the weight of the plastic cover) . SP Churachandpur, Amrita Sinha said based on reliable information regarding transportation of illegal drugs, the Churachandpur District Police team led by Inspector N.Thangzamuan, Officer-in-Charge, Churachandpur Police Station conducted frisking and checking near Rengkai Bridge, Churachandpur. One Tata Sumo with Regd. coming from Sugnu side was stopped and while checking inside the vehicle one passenger was found very nervous and restless. On questioning him, he disclosed that he was transporting contraband drugs concealed inside a white cooler machine.

He identified himself as Thangkhomang Lhungdim (36) of Joupi village, Chakpikarong, Chandel District. He further divulged to the police that the cooler was handed over to him by one Haopu at his shop in Joupi who promised him Rs. 20,000 for transporting it to Churachandpur. The vehicle and the person was taken to Churachandpur Police Station and on disassembling the cooler, 100 soap case containing suspected No. 4, Heroin Powder weighing about 1.335 Kgs approx. (including the weight of the plastic cover) was found hidden inside. The person was arrested and the soap case seized immediately after observing all formalities. In this connection, Churachandpur Police Station has registered a case for investigation.
