Police busts Black Fungus medicine selling in black market, 10 held

Tirupati, Jun 25 (Agency) The Tiruchanur police busted Black Fungus medicine black market and arrested 10 persons working in the medical field both private and government in different districts and recovered 50 injections in powder form from them, here on Friday. The investigation reveals that they procure injections in powder form through black market from Chennai of Tamil Nadu and they again sells this to needy patients at high prices in Tirupati. Addressing media at Police Parade Grounds, Urban Superintendent of Police (SP) Venkata Appala Naidu said the Tiruchanur police, who received information about black marketing medicine Liposomal Amphotericin LAMBIN which has great demand in treating Black Fungus disease, put meticulous efforts and led to arrest of 10 persons.

Apart from recovering 31 Amphotericin, the team led by Tiruchanur CI Sudhakar Reddy also seized 10 injections of Amfotldn and 9 injections of Ambisome which are also used for treat Black Fungus, and total 50 injections were confiscated from the gang. Giving the details of the ten arrested, he said Gunasekhar (30) of SR Puram mandal in Chittoor district, N Guruvardan (23) of Vayalapadu mandal of Chittoor district, M Purushotham (24) of Jeevakona in Tirupati, V Naga Bhaskar(36) residing in Yadiki mandal in Anantapur district were arrested first at Mango godowns on Tiruchanur Road and seized 5 injections from them.

They gave information about six more persons led to an arrest of B Papireddy alia Papaiah(29) of Prakasam district, P Ramachandra Prabhu(30) of Purur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, M Sai Babu(30) of Nellore district, K Viswanath(33) belonged to Vijayawada, B Rangaswamy(33) of Krishna district and K Ramkrishna(34) of Ongole in Prakasam district and also seized remaining 45 injections from them. He said that the police already launched a manhunt for Shareef, a medical representative of Nellore, Ramaraju of Chennai and Parameswari of Chennai who absconded at the place of arrest and adding that they formed special teams to search for suppliers and absconded as well. The SP commended the sincere efforts of police in arresting the gang who were making money from the requirement of patients.
