Police arrests 3 men, heroin worth Rs 2 cr seized

New Delhi, Sep 12 (Agency) In a major crackdown, the Narcotics Cell of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested three men, including a village pradhan of Uttar Pradesh and seized 1 kg fine quality heroin worth over Rs 2 crore in international market, police said. The accused, identified as Hukam Chand, Rohi and Shahid Khan alias Chote Pradhan, are from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly. The drug trafficking was allegedly run by pradhan. According to police, Khan (58) and working as a village pradhan and his family members were pardhan for the last 25 years. He has a network in several states like Delhi, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orisha and Manipur. Khan is the kingpin of the chain. Before some days when he along with his family members was making heroin at his home with the help of crude and poppy top extract and chemicals, UP police conducted raids and apprehended him with 20 Kg heroin. Hukam Chand (45) belongs to Haryana’s Bahadurgarh. He had been arrested several times earlier. He had been facing a heavy financial crisis due to lockdown and wanted to earn quick money.

To earn money, he again came in contact with drug suppliers and started selling heroin. He was using social media to contact the receiver and suppliers or meeting personally. Rohit (32) was a link between Bareilly suppliers and Delhi and had been supplying heroin to Chand for the last several months, Chinmoy Biswal, DCP, Crime Branch (narcotics) Delhi, said. The police laid a trap near Dhan Dhan Satguru Park near Jalebi Chowk in Sultanpuri where the drug supplier, Chand, came on his Scooty with the consignment of contraband for selling to the receiver and was caught red-handed. Contraband 1 Kg heroin was seized from his Scooty. He was found previously involved in 5 cases including 3 cases of NDPS Act. On September 8, Rohit was apprehended from Sultanpuri area with contraband. He was involved in 4 cases of Excise Act and gambling Act.
