Srinagar, Mar 27 (FN Bureau) Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Srinagar. Police station Parimpora received a docket from SDPO West Bemina, that on March 24 Police Post Qamarwari stating there that along with Escort was conducting checking at Arampora Qamarwari.During checking one Auto coming from Parimpora towards Arampora in which three persons were boarded, on seeing the Police party they tried to flee from the spot, but were tactfully apprehended, police said. They said two polythene bags were recovered in which 2.5 Kgs Ghanja and 2.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered, police said.
The accused have been identified as Azhar Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, a resident of Firdous Colony Bemina Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Khan of Arampora Qamarwari Srinagar and Khalid Kansa a resident of Bandipora at present PDD Colony Qamarwari.Accordingly, all the three were arrested and the banned drugs were also seized. The vehicle involved in commission of crime was also seized on spot. The trio probably were going to sell the said narcotic banned drugs among the youth in District Srinagar particularly in Bemina and Parimpora area to ruin their lives, police added. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act has been registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation set into motion, they added.
