Oppn demands CBI probe in fake degree scam in HP

Shimla, Mar 11 (Bureau) Opposition Congress demanded CBI probe into the fake degree scams which occurred in the three private universities alleging that thousands of fake degrees are being sold to state and students belonged to outside spoiling their carrier, member of Congress raised this issue during the cut motion and budgetary demand of education in the state assembly on Friday. Opposition Leader Mukesh Agnihotri three universities have sold fake 36000 degrees and UGC demanded action against them. Blaming to run away of the state government to launch a CBI probe into the fake degree scam Mr Agnihotri said UGC sought action against the three universities but Jai Ram Government is compromising the carrier of youth as spoiling of future of state and students by such education institutes could not be allowed. He also demanded a probe of IIIT Haroli anomalies for misuse of state government funds.

The IIIT hired a building at Ropar at the rate of Rs 8 lakh per month which is not being used and similarly a private building is also hired in Una without having any merit. He said a building of Skill development is lying vacant near the campus but buildings are being hired to provide benefits to some private individuals. He also demanded a probe into the backdoor recruitment in IIITs and ignoring the recruitment of local youth , he said works of canteen was handed over to a man hailed form Kerala. He said NIIT Hamirpur have faced similar controversy in the past and all the central institutes in the state should also been under the inspection of state education department to avoid such anomalies in them. Mr Agnihotri said a person belonged to Mandi who is identified one Nihal,not permitting the state government to purchase a Laptops to meritorious students to distribute since last three years.

He asked the governments who became so powerful that departments were bowing before him and Why Mr Agnihotri said that the State Government was indulged in misuse of department funds as money is spent on non-departmental projects pointing out that government is going to built a Helipad at Saloh and many is being spent on the department properties. Asha Kumari (Dalhousie) said today Education is ailing in the state especially universities where recruitment of faculty members is done from back door entry bypassing norms. He said the Education department in the primary section suffered during the Corona pandemic and now decline in the quality of education is beyond repair. She argued that students upgraded to higher classes could not distinguish between alphabets. Students and teachers suffer due to the dearth of information technology as many students did not have smart phones suffered during online education. She said many schools do not have their own buildings and construction of new buildings is being hampered due to Forest clearance.

She said in many schools Science blocks could not be built and science classes are working without science block or labs. Harshvardhan Chauhan said Himachal Pradesh after Kerala is second in literacy rate in the country however opening of schools has reached to a saturation level. He said the posts of teachers are not being filled through regular appointments and backdoor entries promoting incompetent and ineligible cadres. He said reservation rosters are not being followed in the education sectors. Students unions who are demanding the setting up of the library and other infrastructures are being booked. He said there are shortage of staff in the science streams in many colleges and schools in the rural and urban areas.
