Thane, May 7 (Agency) One Manish Keshwani, who had organized the packing of the Swab Sticks for Covid testing in Ulhasnagar township in a most unhygienic manner, has been arrested, police said on Friday. Keshwani got the sticks packed from several households in the township by paying them Rs 20 for 1,000 packs. He was supplying the packed sticks to others for further handling, told police.
The Ulhasnagar police had registered an FIR against him after the FDA, Police and local Corporation officials raided the premises in the township where the women and children were found packing the sticks without following the protocols. The arrested also did not have any licence from the FDA for the packing of the sticks. A video showing the process went viral on social media a couple of days back. The police registered offences under relevant IPC sections and also Epidemic Act. The local Ulhasnagar police are probing into the crime further.
