Kanyakumari, Sep 24 (FN Bureau) National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths on Tuesday raided multiple locations across Tamil Nadu, as part of its investigation into a case relating to the recruitment of radicalized youths to the ‘Hizb-ut-Tahrir’ (HuT), a banned International pan-Islamist and fundamentalist organization, affiliated to ISIS that is working to establish Islamic caliphate in India. Police sources said the raids were being carried out at 14 locations including Triplicane, Neelankarai, Royapettah, Vannarapettai, Tambaram, Vandalur, Vettuvankeni at Chennai, Pudukottai and Kanyakumari. The NIA sleuths were conducting searches at the houses and other places linked to the alleged sympathizers of the HuT, who were engaged in radicalizing and recruiting gullible youth to establish an Islamic State or Khilafa and enforce a draft constitution written by the radical Islamic preacher, Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani, the founder of the banned organization.
The raid was a follow-up after the Chennai Cyber Crime Wing of Central Crime Police arrested six persons affiliated to the HuT at Chennai during the last week of May, this year. The NIA took over the case from Tamil Nadu police and were investigating it. The arrested persons were identified as Ahmad Mansoor, his sons Hameed Hussain and Abdul Rehman, Mohammed Maurice, Khader Nawaz Sharif and Ahmed Ali. They were booked under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The six accused had conducted closed door Bayans (meetings) and created multiple accounts on various social media applications to upload posts intended to disclaim and disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
