New Delhi, July 21 (FN Agency) The National Human Rights Commission has taken a suo motu cognizance of media reports of a woman delivering a child outside the emergency department of Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi as she was allegedly denied a bed, NHRC statement stated. A few days ago the media published a report about the incident.
A purported video of the incident went viral which shows that a pregnant woman can be seen surrounded by a group of women who are assisting her in delivery outside the hospital the whole night as the doctors allegedly refused to admit her in the hospital. After media reports and a viral video clip, the Union Health Ministry swung into action and directed the administration of the hospital, where the incident was reported, to debar five doctors and one intern from performing their duties.
