New Delhi, May 18 (Bureau) Days after 27 people were killed in Mundka fire, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Tuesday suspended three officials of Narela Zone for alleged laxity on their part. Prima facie it appears to be laxity on the part of the officials of General Branch, House Tax departments and erstwhile building department of then Najafgarh Zone of unified MCD, according to the civic agencies. Three officials are Licensing Inspector, Section Officer of General Branch and Section Officer of House Tax Department. The building where the fire incident occurred is located in extended Lal Dora, Village Mundka. The address of the property is Khasra No 193, Mundka village, it consists of a basement, ground floor and three-storey. The owner is Manish Lakra, the North MCD said in a statement. The corporation has also issued show cause notice to Deputy A&C and Joint Assessor and Collector of Narela Zone and disciplinary proceeding has also been initiated against the then area Junior Engineer of the building department in Narela Zone/Najafgarh Zone posting during January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011, when the alleged construction took place. As per information, the first to third floor are given on rent to Harish Goel and Varun Goel. The owner was using the fourth floor for residential purposes. Building is situated on the road which is neither commercial nor mixed land use category, the statement added.
As per record of Building department of Narela Zone, the construction of the building is about 11 years old. The property was booked by the then Najafgarh Zone on March 8, 2011 to June 20, 2011. The owner of the building paid conversion charges from 2016 to 2018 on the basis of self-assessment. No ongoing construction was noticed. The owner never applied for sanction of building plan. The building was being used for industrial purposes, which was not allowed in the said area/ premises being extended Lal Dora area, the statement further added.
