Meghalaya police seize Yaba tablets worth Rs. 1.8 cr

Shillong, Sep 9 (Agency) Meghalaya police has recovered 8.471 kg of Yaba tablets worth Rs. 1.8 crores and arrested three persons, including a woman, police said on Thursday. Based on source information that a woman had recently received a consignment of suspected narcotics, the Anti Narcotics Task Force East Khasi Hills conducted a search at the residence of the suspect at Lapalang area and recovered the Yaba tablets, Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said.

Further, on the leading of the accused two more suspects were arrested. “It is ascertained that the Yaba tablets were trafficked from Myanmar to be smuggled across the border to Bangladesh,” the police officials said. Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 against the trio.
