Imphal, June 18 (Agency) A man identified as Khoisnam Shantikimar 41 of Lairenjam Awang Leikai, PS Nambol was arrested by Imphal Police Station last night for allegedly spreading false and alarming information about vaccination and wearing of mask in the social media. He was produced before the CJM Imphal West today and remanded in police custody for five days till June 22 by the Court. SP Imphal West, Meghachandra said in the course of further investigation his associates who shared the video and took part in propagation of false information will be identified and necessary legal action will be taken up.
Police appealed not to believe in false information and propaganda regarding COVID vaccination and COVID Appropriate Behavior and SOP. Individuals and groups having vested interest and involved in spreading false and alarming information to spread panic and to create enmity among public will be dealt with strictly as per the provisions of law it was added. Meanwhile Manipur Police today detained 188 people for violating SOP and Rs 65400 collected as fine.
