Mumbai March 22(Bureau) Maharashtra government on Tuesday suspended IPS officer Saurabh Tripathi who was the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Zone 3 for alleged involvement in an extortion case. His suspension proposal was sent to the Home Department by the Mumbai Police and then to the Chief Minister who approved it on Tuesday. Tripathi is an accused in the Angadiya ransom case.
A case of extortion was registered against three officers of LT Marg police station, including Inspector Om Wangate, API Nitin Kadam and Sub-Inspector Samadhan Jamdade. Om Wangate was arrested in the case and during interrogation he named Tripathi for being his link in the case.
