Maha: Authorities seize over Rs 100 cr cash, other goods after code of conduct

Mumbai, Oct 26 (Agency) Following enforcement of the model code of conduct for the Maharashtra Assembly election from October 15, the various central and state authorities have seized property worth Rs 100.40 crore in the state which includes illegal money, liquor, drugs and precious metals among others, till Oct 25, the office of Chief Electoral office has informed. The office has also said that a total of 1,259 complaints have been received on the C-Vigil App across the state from October 15 to 25, out of which 1,250 complaints have been resolved by the Election Commission.

In the first three days of the code of conduct implementation, a total of 420 complaints were received across the state and as much as Rs 10.64 crore unaccounted assets were seized, including illegal cash, liquor, drugs and valuable metals among others, he added. The officer stated that “The C-Vigil App, which helps vigilant citizens to follow the code of conduct, can be downloaded from any app store. Through this app, citizens can register complaints of violation of the code of conduct. After the complaint is registered, appropriate action is taken after investigation by the concerned team.” Notably on October 15, the EC announced election for the 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra, which will be held on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.
