Sangli, Apr 6 (Agency) A 56-year-old excise inspector was arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000, stated the Anti Corruption Bureau. The erring official has been identified as Shahaji Aana Patil, attached with the Prohibition and Excise Department in Islampur town of this district.
According to the ACB, Shahaji demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant in lieu of renewing his bar’s license. Post negotiation, the accused settled to accept Rs 15,000. Based on the allegation, a trap was in the office premises and Shahaji was nabbed red-handed while taking the money, ACB added.
