Lodges complaint with cyber police

Puducherry, Jun 10 (Agency) The excise department on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Cyber cell of the police department demanding action against unknown miscreants who spread rumors in social media about the functioning of liquor shops in the union territory. Unknown persons have spread rumours in social media that as per a court order the liquor shops will be closed again from Friday as a large number of people from Tamilnadu and Kerala are throning the UT to get liquor.

Excise Tahsildar V Balakrishnan in a complaint to the Cyber crime police said that unknown persons have used the Excise department name to create panic among the public and customers leading to unnecessary rush and cowed in liquor shops,in this pandemic time.The Excise department have taken many steps to put in place Covid –19 safety protocols at the liquor shops. Such false news may lead to overcrowding and hence, suitable action may be taken against the false news spreaders.
