Leopard sparks panic in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 23 (Reprentative) Panic gripped Church Lane in the the high security zone here when a leopard was spotted on a tree, officials said on Wednesday. Church Lane houses the offices and residences of security officials and leaders of several political parties.

“We received a call about the presence of a wild leopard. We dispatched a team of wildlife experts,” Regional Wildlife warden Rashid Naqash told UNI. The leopard was tranquilized after he took shelter in a tin shed, Naqash said. He was later trapped and taken away. The leopard is believed to have come down from the Shankaracharya or Zabarwan hills.
