Srinagar, Sep 13 (Bureau) The Central Bureau of Investigation is conducting searches at around 33 locations in the country on Tuesday in an ongoing investigation of a case related to the Sub Inspector recruitment scam of Jammu and Kashmir. The premises being searched include that of former Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board Chairman Khalid Jehangir, Controller of Examination JKSSB Ashok Kumar, some officials of J&K Police including a Deputy Superintendent of Police and Central Reserve Police Force, CBI officails said. The raids are being conducted at Jammu, Srinagar; Karnal, Mahendergarh, Rewari in Haryana; Gandhinagar in Gujarat; Delhi; Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bangaluru in Karnataka.
The CBI registered a case against 33 accused persons last month after the J&K government canceled the police Sub-Inspector recruitment. The written test for the exam was held on March 27 and the results were declared on June 4. After the list was out there were allegations regarding malpractices in the examination. After the allegations surfaced, the J&K government constituted an Inquiry Committee and it was alleged that the accused against whom FIR was registered by CBI entered into conspiracy with officials of JKSSB, Bengaluru-based private company, beneficiary candidates and others, and caused gross irregularities in conduct of written examination for the posts of Sub-Inspectors.
