IPL betting racket busted in Delhi, 5 held

New Delhi, Sep 28 (Representative) Delhi Police on Tuesday busted a cricket betting racket and arrested five men from northwest Delhi’s Burari area. Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted raid at Sant Nagar of Burari area and arrested five men. Total 6 mobiles, a Laptop and cash of Rs 37,500 were recovered from the spot, Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP, north Delhi, said. According to the police, the accused Manoj is the kingpin of the racket and presently he is unemployed.

Manoj told police that he started betting in IPL and other cricket matches just after the lockdown. He used to contact the clients for betting on cricket matches over social media platform calls or chats and the payments were made through online payment modes as well as cash. The accused have been identified as Manoj (49), Ajay (38), Vasant Verma (36), Juber Khan (32) and Sunil (39). A case has been logged under Delhi Public Gambling Act at Burari Police Station.
