Initiate action against security officer who pushed aside Pondy CM : CPI(M)

Puducherry, June 14 (Representative) Demanding stringent action against the security officer of Puducherry Home Minister A Namassivayam who allegedly pushed aside Chief Minister N Rangasamy at the Thirukameswar temple car festival, Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday said that the Minister should resign owning moral responsibility for the incident.In a statement here, CPI(M) Secretary R Rajangam condemned the action and said that Rangasamy was allowed to function as a Chief Minister for ‘namesake’ only in the N R Congress-BJP government. It is a shame for the democracy that Lt. Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan is taking all decisions when a democratically elected NR Congress-BJP government is in office in the Union Territory, he said.Stating that the security officer pushed aside the Chief Minister to give way for Namasivayam, Rajangam wondered how he dare to push aside the Chief Minister.

The Makkal Vazhvurimai Iyakkam President Jaganathan in a statement today demanded an inquiry into the incident and the suspension of the security officer of the Minister pending the conclusion of the inquiry. He said video clips showing the security officer pushing aside Rangasamy went viral on social media and this is a black mark on the police department and all norms of democracy which needs to be condemned. Meanwhile, the government voucher employees held a dharna in front of the Raj Nivas this morning and shouted slogans against Soundararajan in connection with the issue. The employees who gathered in front of the legislative assembly marched towards the Raj Nivas. Since, the Lt Governor is out of station, only a few police personnel are present on security duty. The employees pushed aside the barricades and reached the front gate of Raj Nivas and resorted to a dharna. They also demanded the immediate arrest of the security officer who pushed aside the Chief Minister.Grand Bazaar police rushed to the spot and forcefully removed the agitators from the front gate of Raj Nivas.In the process, there was an altercation between the agitators and the police.Superintendent of police Vamshi Reddy held talks with the agitators and pacified them.
