Kolkata, May 16 (FN Agency) The Income Tax sleuths have been raiding at least ten places across this city from south to northern parts in election-bound West Bengal and seized nearly Rs 55 lakh, official sources said on Thursday. The IT sleuths have been carrying search operations since Wednesday in the parts of the city, including Gariahat in the south, Esplanade in the central part and Shova Bazar in the north, sources added.
The raids were conducted at the ad agency offices and the residential places of the owners and about Rs 55 lakh was seized, nearly 50 lakh each from two places. The IT last month raided a sattu maker business house and offices at Chetla in south Kolkata and had seized Rs 58 lakh in a tax evasion case, sources added.
