Palghar, Aug 2 (Agency) Banned IMFL worth Rs 30 lakh was seized and two persons were arrested for allegedly smuggling the contraband, police said here on Monday. Furnishing details, a police spokesman said that a tip-off was received that illegal liquor was being smuggled into Maharashtra through this district. Immediately swinging into action, the Local Crime Branch raided a place at the Dundalwadi Naka of Dahanu town and intercepted the tempo in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The checking of the vehicle led to the discovery of large stock of alcohol, he stated, adding that the tempo worth Rs nine lakh was also seized. A case against the duo has been registered under the Prohibition Act against with the Talasari police station, he added.
