New Delhi, Nov 10 (Agency) A husband and wife duo has been arrested in connection with a chit fund fraud case in which they allegedly duped 18 persons of Rs 83 lakh, Delhi Police said on Wednesday. The case was registered on the complaint of Santosh Anand along with 17 co-complainants against two people, Amit Mishra and his wife Kamlesh Mishra, both resident of Timarpur for allegedly committing breach of trust, cheating and conspiracy, said RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing. Complainants stated that the alleged persons induced them to invest Rs 3 lakh in their garments export business, assuring them to double the invested amount Rs 6 lakh after six months.
The complainants believed their version and invested in the business. After completion of the time period, they asked for their amount individually from persons, but they were told that their amount was lost in the business and refused to return their amount. Later on, they came to know that alleged persons did not have any export business, said Singh. Therefore, a case under sections 406 and 420 IPC was registered in EOW police station and a probe was initiated. During the investigation, Kamlesh Mishra was declared Proclaimed Person by the Court and anticipatory bail of Amit Mishra was dismissed by the Delhi High Court, Singh added. The police arrested both of them from Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. They were produced before the Court, said Singh.
