Haryana police nabs two; 53 kg ganja, 405 gm opium seized

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (Agency) Under the ongoing drive against drug abuse, Haryana police has seized 53 kg 520 gram of ganja and 405 gram opium during a raid at a drug gang’s hideout in Kaithal district. A Haryana police spokesperson informed that two persons were arrested in the raids conducted following a tip-off. Those arrested were identified as Neeraj, a resident of Assandh in Karnal and Jitender Kumar of Mandi Gobindgarh, district Fatehgarh, Punjab.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of anti-narcotic cell raided the house of the Mayapur colony and recovered the contraband from the possession of the accused. While opium was recovered from Jitender, ganja was seized from the possession of both accused. The seized drugs were estimated to Rs 15 lakh in the contraband market. A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act. A detailed investigation is underway, he added.
