Chennai, Mar 31 (Agency) Customs officials today seized 621 gms of gold valued at Rs 28.26 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Dubai at the Anna International airport here and arrested him.
A release from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Airport) said based on intelligence, one Mohammed Shegil, of Thrissur, who arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight was intercepted at the exit. On personal search, three bundles of gold paste weighing 709 grams were recovered from rectum. On extraction 621 grams of gold worth Rs 28.26 lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act. He was arrested. Further investigation is under progress.
