Gaya, Jan 4 (Agency) Sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized gold worth Rs 2.88 Crores from two trains at Gaya station in wee hours on Tuesday. An official of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Ajay Prakash said here that on the basis of inputs, a team of DRI from Patna raided S-7 coach of Howrah-Indore-Shipra Express at Gaya station and a passenger on Berth No- 38 was frisked. During the search operation, three Kg of gold biscuits was recovered from the passenger, identified as Rameshwar Bind.
He was arrested soon after recovery of gold biscuits from him, he added. Prakash said in another operation conducted by DRI sleuths in S-8 coach of Howrah Kalka Express parked at platform No-1, a passenger of berth No-24 was frisked. Three Kg of gold biscuits was recovered from the passenger identified as Ramdhani Prasad. Both the passengers arrested on charges of gold smuggling were cousins and native of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, he added. “Price of seized gold biscuits is estimated to be Rs 2.88 Crores”, Prakash informed and added that arrested persons were taken to Patna for interrogation in this connection.
