Girl raped by shopkeeper in Kanpur

Kanpur, Mar 19 (Agency) A girl was allegedly raped by a shopkeeper in the Sachendi area here, police said on Friday. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Brijesh Srivastava said that the girl, a resident of the Sachendi area, had gone to fetch sugar from a shop on Thursday night. When she reached the shop, the shopkeeper Ritik, a resident of the Sapai village, forcibly took her inside the house. Upon facing resistance from the girl, he allegedly raped her and fled after leaving her there.

The SP said that when the victim did not get back home, her family started searching for her. When the family reached the shop after searching throughout the night, there was nobody at the shop but the door was open. The family went inside and reached the terrace of the shop where they found the girl lying in a disheveled state. The girl subsequently narrated her ordeal to her family who brought her to the police station on Friday and got a case registered against the accused. Mr Srivastava said that Station In-charge Satish Rathore has constituted two teams for the arrest of the accused. The girl has been sent to the CHC for a medical check-up. Further probe is on.
