Kakinada, Jul 18 (Agency) The Chintur circle police, on a tip off, intercepted a van on its way from Orissa to Maharashtra near Godlagudem junction in the interior agency area on Sunday and seized 1,000 kgs of Ganja packed in 40 gunny bags worth over Rs.30 lakhs, police said. Interestingly the smugglers chose to conceal the ganja bags under the cotton yarn bundles.
The Ganja was loaded into the van in Sukumamidi village in Orissa state for its onward transport to Maharashtra state. Chintur circle Inspector Yuvakumar, Mothugudem SI Sathibabu have seized the Ganja stock along with the van and 190 cartons of cotton yarn . They also arrested two smugglers and seized from them two cell phones . Hunt is on for two other accused who are at large, police said.
