Five year rigorous imprisonment to three in Vyapam case

New Delhi, Dec 20 (Agency) The Special Court of Central Bureau of Investigation in Madhya Pradesh sentenced three persons, one candidate and two middlemen, to undergo five years rigorous imprisonment with fine in Vyapam case. According to the CBI, Dilip Kannoje was a candidate and two, Hridesh Rajput and Manish Rajput, were middlemen in the case. The agency had registered the case on August 6, 2015, in compliance to the order of the Supreme Court on July 9, 2015, and took over the investigation of the case that earlier registered at Jhansi Road Police station at Gwalior, relating to fraudulent admission in the PMT, 2009 Examination through another man who was hired to solve exam. The candidate Kannoje had allegedly used another man to get through the PMT 2009 Examination, said CBI.

The photograph and signature of the candidate appearing on the RASA sheet and Admission Form were allegedly different. The State Police had filed a charge sheet on July 4, 2016. During investigation, CBI examined absconding accused. The specimen handwritings of the candidate were sent to the CFSL along with the OMR Sheet, RASA and admitted handwritings. The expert’s opinion on the same established that the specimen handwritings and signatures of the candidate did not match with handwritings and signatures available on the questioned OMR Sheet and RASA Sheet which was in the name of candidate. It was also found that Kannoje was the beneficiary candidate who got his selection in PMT-2009 without appearing in the written examination himself and later on, got himself admitted into MBBS Course at a Medical College, Gwalior by adopting unfair means in conspiracy with others who appeared in the written examination of PMT- 2009 in his place. CBI filed a charge sheet before the Court after that the trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
