New Delhi, Nov 15 (Agency) A 61-year-old former Judicial Officer was arrested by Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police for allegedly cheating the Lok Sabha MP from Jhansi of Rs 5.55 crore by selling his already mortgaged property at Bijwasan in Delhi. The police said that the accused, identified as Vinod Kumar Sharma, and others misrepresented Anurag Sharma MP from Jhansi for purchasing a property situated at Bijwasan by concealing the facts that the property was already mortgaged by the accused against the loan of Rs 20.22 crore with the Canara Bank. On the misrepresentation and inducement of the accused, the victim agreed to purchase the property for a total consideration of Rs 5.55 crore Sale Deed on February 21, 2017. It is further mentioned that the property was fetching rent of about Rs 8-9 lakh from DMRC under the lease of contract, said RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, EOW.
A case was registered on November 14, 2019 and initiated a probe into the matter, said Singh. During the investigation, the relevant documents were obtained from Canara Bank and DMRC apart from examination of the concerned persons. It came on record that the property was having multiple charges from the bank. The complainant was informed that the property is mortgaged with Canera Bank only against the loan of Rs 4.12 crore, whereas the material fact that the same property was already mortgaged in another loan of Rs 20.22 crore also taken by the company of the accused from the same bank, said Singh. The accused even extended the lease agreement with the DMRC in January 2018 in their own name by concealing the facts from DMRC also that the property has already been sold by him. On the basis of the probe, the accused was arrested on Monday, said Additional Commissioner of Police, EOW.
