New Delhi, Oct 7 (Agency) The Enforcement Directorate on Friday asked Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar, who is also a key organiser of Karnataka-leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, to submit documents relating to the National Herald case. “Today’s questioning is over. I have agreed to submit the documents sought by ED in connection with their financial contribution to Young India Private Limited relating to National Herald case,” he told reporters here. In the morning, Shivakumar and his brother MP DK Suresh reached ED office here for questioning leaving the Bharat Jodo yatra midway.
The senior Congress leader had requested to issue fresh summons for October 23 questioning, but ED officials declined the request and insisted on his presence. Shivakumar had slammed the ED and termed the summons as a political harassment. “I had shot off a mail to ED to defer their summons in view of Bharat Jodo Yatra. Their rejection is a clear sign that the timing of their summons is political harassment. They don’t like my participation in the BharathAikyataYatre,” Shivakumar tweeted in Kannada. On September 7, the ED rejected his request for extending the date of his appearance before the agency. Earlier, he had also accused the government of misusing agencies to harass him after seeing the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Shivakumar said he would discuss the summons with fellow party leaders and take a call on whether he should appear.
