New Delhi, Dec 23 (FN Bureau) Delhi Police on Monday said it busted a drug trafficking syndicate, apprehending two and seizing 24 kg of ganja. “The accused, identified as Rihaan (29) and Sufiyan (40), residents of Deoband, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested near Kashmiri Gate Bus Stand, Delhi,” police said. “The duo was part of a drug trafficking gang that smuggled Ganja from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Odisha for distribution across Delhi-NCR and other parts of India,” it said.
A dedicated team of the Eastern Range – I, Crime Branch, led by Inspector Lichhman under the supervision of ACP Rohitash Kumar, conducted the operation based on a tip-off. Acting on the information, the team laid a trap at Kashmiri Gate Bus Stand. During the operation, the suspects were spotted with a red trolley bag and a black backpack. A search revealed 20 kilograms of Ganja in the trolley bag carried by Sufiyan and 4 kilograms in the backpack carried by Rihaan. The contraband was seized, and both individuals were taken into custody.
