New Delhi, March 21 (Agency) Delhi Police on Monday filed a 1040-page charge sheet against Scientist Bharat Bhushan Kataria in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion, which took place at Rohini Court Complex in December, 2021. The charge sheet has been filed in the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Court, New Delhi. Police said an IED explosion took place in Room No 102 of the Rohini Court Complex on December 9, 2021. A case was filed under Section 307 IPC and Section 3 of the Explosive Substance Act at Special Cell Police Station. A team of more than 150 police personnel were pressed into service to work on this case using scientific techniques of investigation.
Other units of the Special Cell also provided crucial assistance to the investigating team, said Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell of Delhi Police. Over 150 CCTV cameras footage were analysed, verification of more than 1000 vehicles entering the court premises on the day of incident was done and interrogation of hundreds of persons, including Advocates, litigants, police personnel and persons with past criminal history was conducted, following which the team succeeded in identifying the culprit behind the incident. On December 17 last year, Bharat Bhushan Kataria was arrested in this case, said Singh. Police claimed that the probe revealed that Kataria deliberately placed and triggered an IED using a remote trigger on December 9, at Room No 102, Rohini Court Complex with the intention to kill his rival Amit Vashisht. He also endangered the life of other persons present in the court, including the Judge, the court staff, advocates and other litigants with his heinous act, Police added.
